Florence P. Redman, age 91 years, of Tigerton passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
The former Florence Patricia Salzman was born on March 17, 1922 in the Town of Morris, Shawano County, to Louis and Elizabeth (Jolin) Salzman. On December 23, 1939 she was united in marriage to Raymond A. Redman at St. Anthony’s Rectory in Tigerton. In her early years, Florence was a seasonal worker harvesting potatoes and peas. She also worked for some time for Anita Pockat hanging wallpaper and doing interior painting of homes. But she was most proud of being a homemaker, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. Florence is a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton. Her interests included embroidery, making latch hook rugs, and looking after her vegetable and flower gardens. Florence also enjoyed polka music and dancing, and “You Are My Sunshine” became a favorite tune of hers. She will be remembered most for her excellent sense of humor and making people laugh.
Survivors include seven children: Roger (Barb) Redman of Mesa, AZ, Beverly (John Rettkowski) Meverden of Tigerton, Janice (Ronald) Haines of Manawa, Kathy (Mike) Thiel of Tigerton, Raymond (Bev) Redman of Greenville, David Redman of Tigerton, and Ann (Warren) Griepentrog of Tigerton. There are 24 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. There are two sisters, Baeda Ashenbrenner of Shawano and Loretta Salzman of Tigerton. There are two sisters-in-law, Marge Schneiderwendt of Manawa and Dorothy Redman of Tigerton. Florence is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1963; four sisters, Ruth, Ethel, Myrtle, and an infant Leora; four brothers, Merlin, Marvin, Floyd, and Clarence; a grandson, Joshua Griepentrog, a son-in-law, Aelred “Al” Meverden, and a brother-in-law, James Ashenbrenner.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton. Deacon Howard Bricco and Deacon Mike Brandt will officiate. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
